1-23-10

We have done many things since I last updated. We went to a conference where there were about 10,000 people. The language barrier has been interesting. The speaker said some things and then everyone laughed as we were standing up front. We still don't know what was said. That happens quite a bit. We did one of our dramas and Jackie gave a testimony, then Aaron gave a message. We ran out of time, so that is all we did. We regularly perform both dramas and our hip-hop dance. We went to a village where a pastor and his wife are church planting. The support they get each month is about $30. That is not a whole lot to work with. They are trying to build a church, but can only do work as they receive funds. They haven't gotten very far. We've been to a couple of schools and have done several church services. Last Sunday after church there was a wedding ceremony that we weren't told beforehand we were going to attend. The families are Indians from Australia, but came to India for a months holiday and to get married. It was pretty cool. We went to a special needs school last week. They have a really cool program that is set up very well.We are leaving this city to go back to the first place we stayed. We will be working with children a lot more and doing some medical stuff. Please continue to keep us in your prayers!!!
Update on Haiti stuff:
All the people I know that were or are in Haiti at the time of the earthquake are fine. There were still 7 children at Haiti Lifeline that were in the process of being adopted and they all got to come to America to their families with the team when they left. Praise God!!! Praise God!!! I can't wait to go see them!!!

I don't even know what day it is!!!

Things are going well here in India! Last week we worked with university students teaching them English or just talking to them to teach them. Please pray that the Christian students would have opportunities to speak to the Muslim, Hindu or atheists there!
Yesterday was our day off and we went to a hotel to go swimming, it was very relaxing and nice!! Today we cleaned up a couple of trash pits. It was dirty, hot, hard work, but it looks better!!
I just heard about the Earthquake in Haiti!! My heart is hurting for them! Please pray for the team of 21 Americans stranded there! Will update again soon!!

In India finally!!! Week 1

Hey sorry it's been so long since I've updated, I meant to do it over Christmas break, but never did, obviously!! I am finally in INDIA!!!! It's been quite the experience! We've been sleep deprived and are jet lagged, so we're all a little tired and we haven't even started any ministry stuff yet. For the next 3 weeks we will be doing some different things like teaching English at a university and helping out the base here. I'm not exactly sure what all that entails. We had a long train ride last night, but it wasn't too bad since we all had our own bed! Today we have just chilled. Some of us girls did some laundry by hand. We actually have a western toilet here, which is nice! Although the Squatty is quite an experience!! We are very blessed with the wonderful staff we are staying with. Ministry stuff starts tomorrow and then it will be go go go til w leave!!
Please pray for unity on the team, that we would adjust quickly to the spicy food as some of us, including me, are struggling with that a little bit, and that we would be able to show Jesus to the people we come into contact with. Help us to not be scared or nervous about the things we will experience! Love you all!! I'll update again when I get a chance!!
